Approach to Therapy
Allison considers herself to be a roots-based social worker, who strives to see and understand the causation behind symptom presentation and behavioral issues. Allison has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families to address mental health issues impacting the family system. Allison is developing specialties in areas related to child development, behavioral issues, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, self-expression/life transitions, LGBTQIA+ identity formation, and healthy relationship building. Allison believes that individuals are the experts of their lived experiences, which is essential for inclusivity in therapeutic partnerships. Allison seeks to empower clients to build the best version of themselves with psychodynamic and recovery-based philosophies informing her clinical work. Allison believes the therapeutic relationship relies on trust, vulnerability, acceptance, accountability, and collaboration.

Allison utilizes a client-centered or Rogerian approach to therapy, especially when working with children. Her work involves play therapy interventions along with sand play therapy. Additionally, Allison uses Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness, and CBT with her clients. Allison is certified in Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). NET is a mind-body approach designed to understand and address stress or trauma stored in the body.

About Allison
Allison is a lifelong learner who is deeply committed to personal growth and supporting others in their journey toward self-understanding and empowerment. Her clinical work is strongly informed by a dedication to social justice and a passion for dismantling systems of oppression that hinder equity and inclusion. As both a therapist and advocate, Allison integrates these values into her practice, helping clients explore their identities, challenge limiting beliefs, and move toward meaningful change.

With a personal background that includes close family experience with Autism, Allison brings empathy, advocacy, and a deep appreciation for neurodiversity into her work. She believes in reshaping traditional perceptions of therapy, aiming to create a space that is authentic, affirming, and free from shame or guilt. Her therapeutic approach is centered on helping clients understand who they are, how they relate to the world, and how to cultivate a life that reflects their unique values and strengths.

Outside of the therapy room, Allison enjoys photography (especially film), watching the sunset, attending live music and baseball games (Go Cardinals!), and spending time with her dog (Finley) and cat (Karma). These personal passions reflect the same grounding, presence, and joy she encourages in her clients' lives.
